The Red Fort is a beautiful fort complex that is in many ways symbolic of the splendor of Delhi and its Moughal history. Shah Jahan the Great Moughal emperor gave the fort its present prestigious position when he shifted his capital from Agra to Delhi at the Red fort. Apart from its Mughal history for which this fort is famous for, the Red Fort is of extreme value to Independent India as it hosted the first speech of Independence by Jawahar Lal Nehru here.
The sandstone walls give it its distinctive red color and it its name; the Lal Qilah or Red Fort. But the fort isn’t just one building but a complex of a various sections and palaces that render it a grandeur that isn’t easily paralleled by other historical buildings in India. The buildings are quite grand and striking and the interiors feature very intricate and ornate art work that leaves tourists mesmerized. Although it isn’t in its former glory but the fort is still quite beautiful. The fort stands on the Yamuna River which left it with a perfect strategic location in the old times. Today its location gives it a sense of exquisiteness and makes you forget that a busy city exists right outside. There is also a beautiful music and sound show that is put up every evening. The show is certainly worth a watch or maybe two!

Red Fort, Delhi Reviews - Write a Review
Escape the chaos of Delhi for a while and relax in the gardens of the red fort. The buildings are magnificent and it is great place to relax for a while. You can get a guide if you want to learn about the history or just wonder round listening to the free your on your phone. Once your done. Sit down on the grass a while before heading back. Once bit of advice I would like to offer. Try leave before 4 unless you don't mind getting stuck in rush hour traffic like we did. 20 minutes turned almost 2 hours very quickly!
Massive and impressive, the grounds are really nice to walk around and you can take some really good pictures!! The fort is quite large and imposing as you approach. The grounds are well kept and a respite from the crowds outside. There is a lot of restoration going on, so entry to some of the areas is restricted. There are several interesting pieces of art and stonework to view. This is a VERY busy destination so plan a few hours to explore. Line getting can be long. Luckily we go there later in day so line wasn't too long. We spen a few hours exploring most of what the Red fort had to offer. There are a few museums in there so try and see them as well. It is a must see if in Delhi. Plan for a few hours.
Some useful tips. Tip 1: Plan your trip during morning hours Tip 2: Consider audio tour as this will make long walk easy inside and also load yourself with good information and knowledge. Tip 3: Carry water along with you as it will take long time to complete. Tip 4: consider 1.30-2 hours minimum to complete entire fort.
One of the most beautiful places I have seen. You need about four to five hours to have a complete look at the place. It also houses museums with miniatures of independence struggle and weapons used in the early times. It has a number of shops inside that sell beautiful handmade products and utilities. Unlike the local fashion markets, you don't have to bargain too much here as the prices are already fair. Yet you can try your luck for the best deal! P.S. Do get the audio guide that they sell near the ticket counter as it will be helpful for you to understand the history and connection between different buildings inside.
Red Fort the identity of Delhi is one of the so many monuments situated in Delhi and i can say it the best monument in Delhi. You can come here and spend a good time with family or friends. Tickets price are reasonable but the ques for tickets are so long and tiring sometimes it will take an hour to purchase ticket. But yes it's worth to waiting here because inside the fort you can find exceptional things.
