Tamba Park, Denneville Reviews
Lion Park looks amazing now it's had some money spent on it. There's a little bit of something for everyone here now - although it's really aimed at younger children. I miss the model village but the Dino Park is a brilliant addition. And, we spent a couple of quid to feed the Koi Carp, which always show their appreciation for the food. The crazy golf was a bit too small (and sane) for us grown-ups so we had a couple of quick games of skittles and giant Connect 4. And, there are more fun family things coming soon.
What's there is OK, but it's not going to fill more than 2-3h. Entry price is quite reasonable, that gives you access to indoor and outdoor play areas which are both well equipped, and the dinosaur walk through. The dinosaurs aren't going to win any awards for realistic movement but they're decent entry-level anamatronics. Our main annoyance was that the website implied all activities were covered by the entrance fee, but the trampolines cost £2 for 10 minutes (enforced even when quite) and the electric boats £5 for 10 minutes. On the subject of the boats, the motors have all the power of an electric toothbrush - steering is therefore imprecise. They're OK but young kids aren't going to manage to drive them without help.
This was my 9 year old daughter's favourite place during our first visit to Jersey because there was a good range of physical activities. The best ever for her was the indoor play area, designed for a wide age range. She liked the outdoor park and selection of bouncy castles. It is clear that Tamba park is popular for young families, as a place to kill some time or to meet friends for a coffee and something hot or cold to eat. As well as the aforementioned, there was an awesome playground and trampolines. What attracted us in the first place was the dinosaurs, that was ok. The food was fine although the chef did not add the fresh chilli as suggested on the menu and was only available on request. My husband raised this with them and the manager there took steps to rectify the situation. My criticisms are that the little boat ride that was available was basically boring, with hardly any obstacles to navigate. Whilst the dinosaurs were interesting, there were not many of them and some were worn out and didn't move.
Children had lots of fun but were disappointed to not see any birds of prey. Also be advised that the mini golf, fairground rides and I assume boat lake and trampolines (which were closed on our visit) cost extra money. At £17 for a family of 4 I'd say it was over priced for a very dark indoor play area and some robotic dinosaurs.
It was a nice experience - Dino walk fab, only prob quite a lot of attractions we're closed, come on it's May people!
