About Sloan's Lake Park, Denver
Denver's largest lake is a bit of an odd duck. For one, there are no streams feeding its 77 acres. Rather, the water comes from an underground aquifer. Settlers have recorded that during early days in this area, there was no lake here. But there is one now and it offers Denver some fantastic recreation. For one, there are a lot of birds and animals and fish that call the lake their home. Hiking, jogging and bicycling on the trails is common at the park, as are games at the basketball and tennis courts. But the most popular activity by far is fishing on the lake and taking boats out into the water. Bring a picnic to spread on the grass. In summer, come watch the incredible celebration of Asian American culture-the Colorado Dragon Boat Festival.
