Situated in the Detroit River between Canada and the United States mainland, Belle Isle Park is a 982 acre (1,534 square meter) island park.
It has a maritime museum, a zoo, a conservatory, an aquarium, a beach, a yacht club and a golf course. You will also see a number of pavilions, monuments and statues. Clean and well patrolled it is best during the summer when it offers a great view of Windsor Canada and Detroit. Enjoy the spectacular fountain or walk, go biking or roller-blading. Or even paddling at the paddle-boat rental. You can admire from afar or walk along the little bridge everywhere. Make use of the grills and cabanas available for public use.
Visit the conservatory where entry is free and see the many cacti, ferns, tropical and outdoor plants. The maritime museum covering 16,000 square feet features a large collection of ships no longer in service. Here you can even go up the old freighter pilot house overlooking the Detroit River. Also visit the aquarium and take some awesome pictures.

Belle Isle Park Reviews & Ratings
A good friend of mine kept telling me to go to Belle Isle because of how nice it is now. I used to live near Belle Isle when I was young and never went back. I decided to go and had a great time! For a photographer (like me), this is a great place to visit. There is a police presence and a lot of families having a great time. The wildlife is beautiful and healthy.
Its beautiful! It's been cleaned up fabulously! And there are several places to visit. Picnic or just hang out with the kids. Beautiful old structures Being surrounded by the water makes it a hot spot for picture taking
If you have not been here in awhile, it is a MUST SEE. Still a bit of construction going on, but how beautiful. Fountain is restored and state park is well kept. Amazing city skyline. Great job Detroit😊
Detroit's version of central park. Wasn't the nicest place to visit in the 80's and 90's but lately has become the park I had always hoped it would be. From the Conservatory to the beaches it is on the upswing and getting better. Attended a very nice wedding there. Great views of the skylines of Detroit and Windsor.
Amazing place. There are a lot of attractions such as a big water fountain, an aquarium, a nature center, and a greenhouse. Great place to bring children, friends, and etc to. Would recommend bringing supplies to prepare yourself. Don't touch the fountain water, (it has fecal matter from various avian species)
