Located directly on the river, extending from the Ambassador Bridge to Belle Isle, this 5-1/2 mile (8.8km) long promenade called the River Walk is part of The Detroit International Riverfront.  62 feet wide in most places with separate lanes for pedestrian and bicycles/skates, it has pavilions, a carousel for kids, beach volleyball, fishing piers and benches alongside. 

Enjoy the lovely butterfly garden at the Richard Plaza located in Gabriel Richard Park.   Relax under the covered seating or rent a bike at the Rivard Plaza located at the foot of Rivard Street.  Watch the towering skyscrapers adorning its sides.  Enjoy the fresh air with a walk along the River Walk which can  be both fun and educational or even romantic.  You could also participate in the various programs held during summer.
