Devils Lake in North Dakota has a humid continental climate, where the winters are extremely cold and the summers are usually mildly warm. Snowfall is frequent but light in the winters while there is plenty of rainfall during the summers.
Winter: The months of November to March are very cold and are accompanied by regular snowfall.
Spring: The weather becomes a little warm in the months of April and May providing respite from the cold.
Summer: The temperature becomes quite warm during the period of June – August and the weather change is accompanied by constant rains and thunderstorms.
Fall: The mercury again starts dipping from September – October and there is a visible decrease in the amount of rainfall.
The best time to visit Devils Lake depends on what activity you would like to pursue on your visit. For enthusiastic anglers the period from mid-April to October should be perfect. April – May and September – October is considered to be the peak season as the weather is cool and crisp and rainfall is scarce.
