The Shuklaphanta National Park covers an area of 305 square kilometres and has been named after the dazzling grassland known in Nepali as Phanta. Western Terai’s largest grassland is here at this national park and is also home to Asia’s largest population of beautiful swamp deer. Other than those, a lot of other species can also be found at the Shuklaphanta National Park including rhinos, tigers, wild elephants, crocodiles, migratory birds and more. The area was a well-known hunting place for the Nepalese Royalty before being transformed into a protected area. Even today, the park hasn’t been explored completely and is often frequented by zoologists and researchers.
