The port-marina along Rance River is one of the liveliest places in the city. It is also one of the most beautiful walks. In the summer, the waters are very busy with cruise boats. Old stone houses have been converted into riverside restaurants. Not only are they great places to eat, they are also great places to people watch. Further up the walk, you’ll see a 15th century bridge that crosses over Lanvallay. There, at the Maison de la Rance, is a discovery centre that will acquaint you with the history of life on the river. The Rue de Petit-Fort ends at the port – do step into it’s cobbled streets and half timbered houses that are filled with arts and crafts shops.

  • Lovely relaxing environment and not overcrowded. Park the quiet side of the river next to the mercure hotel. Much of the year you can hire a boat. Highly recommended. Many eating places.

  • Romantic place filled with lots of restaurants and cafés. Plenty to do and a lovely walk ..if a little steep for some .

  • One of the most incredible towns I have visited. The architecture of the buildings is quite incredible.

  • Fabulous place to visit -old new and spectacular sites to see. Well worth going if you're in the north of Brittany

  • We didn't stay here too long, but it is a nice enough place with lots of character and a lovely cake/pastry shop down by the river.
