Made in the 19th century, Barzan Towers are also known as Umm Salal Mohammed Fort Towers. They have a very interesting history associated with them. Barzan means height in Arabic. Initially built to conserve the rain-water and to watch out for pearl divers, approaching ships and other dangers- today Barzan Towers have been re created with many facilities. They were built in the year 1910 and the construction actually began in the late 19th century and went up till the early 20th century. Today, Barzan towers are more of an architectural marvel and should definitely be seen when in Doha. The soothing color and the view from top is sure to make your visit worthwhile.
