One of the most visited waterfalls in Ireland, the Gelenvin Waterfall is located near the Glen House, 15 kilometres away from the Donegal Town Centre. The waterfall is formed by mountain water cascading over a height of 30 feet. The water basin below is called Pohl–an-eas referring to the ‘foam’ caused by the waterfall.

Walking to this waterfall is pleasant with beautiful flowers and greenery. Many picnic spots are available which merge well with the nature. Pitted stepping stones make walking here safe. Tourists love to spend hours near the waterfall to unwind. A visit to the ‘Rose Tearoom’ for a hot cup of coffee/Tea and snacks makes for the perfect day.

  • It is recommended to walk up to the waterfall via the entrance of the Glen House.
  • Do carry a few snacks on the way as there are many picnic spots to relax near the waterfall.

  • The Glen house is 15 kilometres away from the Diamond. Once at the Glen House, it will take you around 15 minutes to walk through the forest to the waterfall.
  • Bus: Catch a bus to the Glen house from the Bus Station across the Diamond.

  • Rose Tearoom
  • Ice cream parlour at the bottom car-park as well

  • Beautiful....Would have liked to have been aloud to take my pet up to the waterfall. He fretted in the car...People who do not pick up after their pet spoil it for others

  • Been coming here for years. After the last big storm the path and river route were heavily damaged. Since then they have both been repaired to a high standard. Nice little walk.

  • I always recommend this place to visitors. It's easy to find and it has adequate parking. The walk to the waterfall isn't too far but it's enough to make a nice afternoon of it. There are little fairy houses dotted along the path and the walk is so well maintained. There is a nice seating area for picnics beside the carpark but also picnic benches dotted along the path. There are toilet facilities off the carpark and a place to buy something to eat. It's a great visit.

  • Lovely walk uphill, very manageable by all ages, there's plenty of picnic benches to rest on or enjoy a nice lunch. Scenic spots to get those perfect pictures and a truly beautiful sight when you reach the top. Perfect for all ages.

  • Lovely walk on gravelled path up to waterfall. Seats along the way. Beautiful coffee and gift shop on site.
