The old 16th century Dhayah Fort was constructed strategically on a hilltop above the city of Ras al-Khaimah and offered spellbinding panoramic views of the surrounding areas. The fort had a crucial role to play in the city’s history and has faced some tumultuous events. The fort was destroyed in the 16th century itself while resisting a British attack on the tribes of Ras al-Khaimah. The Dhayah Fort that can be seen today was reconstructed in the 19th century and can be reached via a stairway. At the top, within the small courtyard, there are two small towers which face each other. Once you make it to the top, you can appreciate this wonder and enjoy the stunning views of the city.
