Dubai Museum, Dubai Reviews
This was an very interesting museum in Dubai.. It featured items, and wax figures of the ancient Dubai culture.. I think most tourist would appreciate the demonstration of Arabian lifestyle.. From displays of the way people use to live in their homes, to exhibits of how people made a living.. The people of Dubai are very fascinating.. This museum digs in to how this country went from only a dessert, to a futuristic city, and world attraction..
Why isn't this entry named the Dubai Museum like the sign out front? The only architecture to admire is the fort itself which is an atmospheric 18th century relic. Although I enjoyed my visit, one is surprised that a wealthy nation like Dubai doesn't pour more scholarly resources to put the exhibits in better order, with better lighting and more informed labelling. The palm thatched huts weren't labelled as re-creations of traditional living, you had to figure it out. With the effort put into the massive dioramas created in the underground basement section, I can scarcely read the labels in the dim lighting.
Dubai's culture and history well explained with models and videos. It was really great to read and understand all the history. Their dresses, their customs, perl collection.. how do they do that.
Great entry price of 3 DHS to enter, looks very modest of the outside with a few exhibits, there is then a huge underground section showing the history of Dubai. Well worth checking out
A Must visit place. Very nice and you will go through Dubai history since the 19th century and the traditional life at the time. Very impressive tour . But you better go by taxi as the area lacks parking lots. Too crowded streets . So be smart and go by taxi or by abra boat if you are coming from Deira side.
