The actual tour was great and Lauren was the best host! She really catered to the kids. She appeared to be the only person in board who knew what she was doing. We took the Family Fun Pizza cruise. The pizza was sitting in boxes on the side of the table. The pizza we were served was cold, not even warm. Not to mention there was no serve ware. You just grabbed with your hands. NOT SANITARY! Especially with so many children running around. About an hour into the cruise the pizza was all gone and the "warmers" which served no purpose because the pizza was cold, were left on. Being a mother I took it upon myself to turn them off before someone burned themselves. Overall I don't think we would return. Over $100 for cold pizza and a rather clueless staff (other than Lauren). I will be emailing the company for a partial refund.
Took the pizza tour. Although the actual tour of the bay and experience of being on a boat were great and the staff was extremely nice and accommodating. Don't go on an empty stomach. It's more like a snack rather than a meal, but the price was fair for what you do get. Being from out of town and seeing the sites from the boat still made for a fun trip.
We went on the dinner cruise on 7/15/17 and enjoyed ourselves. It was family friendly. We had a couple two year olds with us but no one seemed to mind them as we tried to limit their ability to run around and their noise production. Staff was friendly. The steak and chicken was good, but I'm 99.9% sure the kid's mac and cheese was from a box.
When I purchased two tickets for the boat tour, I was excited to see the Duluth Harbor. When I arrived at the place to board the boat, I was taken aside while a large children's group boarded the boat ahead of my girlfriend and I. We were told that the tour we were going on was cancelled because our boat was out of the water for repairs. This was weird to me, because the boat that our tickets said were were supposed to board was the same boat that the school group ahead of us was boarding. They told me they didn't have an email address from me to let me know the tour was cancelled, but I received a confirmation email just seven days prior to the trip telling me I had successfully purchased my tickets. From a business perspective, I understand the logic behind Vista Fleet's decision. The school group obviously made them more money than my girlfriend and I would have. As an aspiring marketing intern, I think I have a slogan the company might like: "VISTA FLEET: MONEY FIRST, PEOPLE SECOND"
Tour was ok and we got to see a lot of the shore. It would be nice if there was assigned seating. Fellow passengers were rather rude jumping into our empty chair when we got up to get a drink or use the restroom. There were not enough chairs for everyone to sit on the boat which was part of the problem.
