It’s a beach, not a street paved with gold, but it’s more fun this way. One of Durban’s most popular hangouts, the sandy shores of this beach provide a wide expanse for swimmers and sunbathers to dip into the Indian Ocean. It’s also a good place for novice surfers to learn their art. Adding to its draw is the fact that it’s laid out b so many other fun destinations like the uShaka Marine World, the Blue Lagoon, the Skate Park and the Moses Mabhida Stadium. Walkers, joggers and cyclists are a regular sight along the beach, as are vendors of art, craft and curiosities. It’s especially nice how clean it’s been kept. Sunrises here aren’t to be missed. Cafes and vendors along the mile make sure your stomach is keeping up with your spirits.
- Don’t bring valuables to the beach if you’re planning on swimming.
- Don’t visit after dark.
