The Gomti river is one of the tributaries of Ganga- the holy river that is believed to descend down from heaven. Legends and locals say that a dip in the river can wash away all the sins of one’s lifetime. Needless to say, Gomti river is considered holy too- especially since it flows through Dwarka that is home to Lord Krishna. The Gomti ghat forms the banks of Gomti and offers a series of steps that you can descend to take a bath in the river.
A little further away, the river meets the Arabian sea at Chakratirtha Ghat. The view of the river here is a refreshing sight especially with the nearby temples dedicated to Lord Krishna, Sudama and Lord Shiva that are located at its edge. When the river overflows, the water lashes onto the ghat section but for most parts, this is a calm oasis where you can admire the sunsets. Boat rides are available for locals for a small amount that offers a spell-binding view of the coast of Gujarat and the skyline of the city of Dwarka.
