Also known as the Copper Mountain, the Peak Mountain is part of a Metacomet Ridge. It is known for its panoramic views from cliffs overlooking the Congamond Lake, Salmon Brook Valley, and historic Old Newgate Prison. The 51-mile Metacomet trail passes through the mountain. You can enjoy hiking, snowshoeing, bird watching and many other activities in the area. The mountain trail is also an important raptor migration path. Species like the bald eagle, golden eagle, peregrine falcon, and American kestrel have been encountered here.
