Eastnor Obelisk is an obelisk placed on a hill, located near the Eastnor Castle. It was placed in 1812, around the same time that the castle was being built. The monument is around 90 feet high, and can be spotted from miles away. The hill gives brilliant views of the castle, as well as the fields below. The monument was built by Lord John Sommers Cocks in the loving memory of his son, Edward Charles Cocks who lost his life in the Peninsular War. A dedication saying the same is inscribed on the obelisk. Although repairs had to be made during the 1970s, it stands tall today, signifying the love of a father and the benevolence of a soldier.
