Let me start by saying the Kelley House is in a great location. My friend and I have stayed here in the past. This time we decided to stay in a 2 bedroom suite and booked the Wheel House. The only nice thing I can say about the Wheel House is that it has a view of the harbor. As you walk up to the front entrance, you can easily see that it is in desperate need of a paint job. Inside we found the furniture to be outdated, including the kitchen refrigerator and other appliances. The carpet looked like it had not been cleaned in years. The bathrooms were disgusting!!! There was black mold on the doors and spider webs visible throughout the bathroom and on the lamps in the bedrooms. We expressed our concerns to a waitress at the Harbor View Hotel (their sister property) and she put us in touch with the manager (i.e., Kelly O'Hara). Kelly turned out to be our Angel. Although, we were in Edgartown during one of the busiest months and both properties were at capacity, she was able to find us a room at the Harbor View in one of their cottages for 1 night, then a room in the main building for the rest of our stay. It was a great improvement over that dump at the Kelly House. We have always enjoyed our past experiences at the Harbor View and this property never disappoints. It is a bit more pricier than the Kelley House, but as I found out the hard way it is so worth it. Did I mention that they were charging me $1050/night for the 2 bedroom suite at the Kelley House. I hope their management reads this review and spends the extra money to renovate that property, so the accommodations demand that nightly rate.
Was very nice! Perfect location and the staff was really friendly.
Superb staff, very clean, comfortable bedding, and peaceful atmosphere.
So we booked this hotel because of it's good reviews and seemed like a nice place to stay for a night. We were a group of 6 girls on a girls only weekend. As we got down from our cab in front of the hotel, there was this guy who said he was staff at the hotel but was off that day. He seemed so very creepy and offered to help with our luggage. We thought we were just being paranoid and let him help. He did not leave even after that and started asking questions with an intent to hang out with us. He creeped us out. At one point we thought he was high! We started checking in at the front desk. To the woman who was working at this hotel as a receptionist at the front desk ( on June 4th, 2017 at 3.30 pm) you were a horrible receptionist to us. She started giving out details like for how long we were staying at this hotel to this creepy off duty dude and we were scared for life looking at her face and the looks she was giving us while she talked to the creepy dude. She gave us evil looks and honestly it looked like she was pimping us out. You are a horrible horrible woman. When I asked for name and card from this woman, the creepy dude was looking into my face very closely and asked why would I need a card. I finally had enough and asked him to stay away from us and also that he was making us very uncomfortable. I'm glad he left us at this point. The hotel didnot have the amnities as listed. No bar, no pool ( pool was dirty), open windows everywhere, basically the hotel was under construction and we just got one copy of keys for one room. No trash bin in the bathroom, the AC did not work in one of the rooms we booked, telephone wasn't plugged in to call the front desk, power outlets were hardly working. Room temperature went to 80s and the thermostat just stopped working at all. When asked for 2 table fans, the guy just put one fan and disappeared. The manager says "Sorry we did not inform you about the construction, so here's 30% off!" Really? Staff here need to know how to do their job and how to treat customers. I hated to stay there but since we had plans and reservations in the places nearby this hotel, we had no other way to escape this hell. They just scared the hell out of us. Check-in process here ruined the whole fun and left us worrying the whole night. I had a very light sleep since I was afraid that someone might barge in. Also, the walls are very thin and someone in the night next to us very very rudely banged on the door and asked us not to talk at all. WHAT?! Me and my friends hated the night's stay and would not recommend to anyone. Stay safe somewhere else.
