Ben Nevis, Edinburgh Reviews
It is certainly an achievement to complete the walk all the way to the summit of Ben Nevis, as there were a few times in which I just wanted to go back to hotel and have a nice, warm and relaxing bath. I went with a few friends who are fitter than me and they were trying to get to the top and back in less than 5 hours; which obviously didn’t happen, but we were still happy with the timing as it is definitely harder than the other two peaks - which we completed last year.
Ben Nevis is a wonderful mountain to trek. It’s a relatively short climb to the top, around 4 hours if you have a good pace. It is pretty steep in places but totally manageable. The views of the Scottish highlands are breath taking and the locals and visitors are really friendly. You are guarantied a great day out!
Great climb up the mountain with views across many lochs. It's great fun ticking off mountains in the distance as you surpass their summits. the Summit was icy and extremely cold without gloves, so make sure you've packed warm clothes if you're fancying spending much time at the top. Very large area surrounding the trig on the summit and plenty of shelter from the wind in the form of ruined structures. Even has an emergency shelter right at the top!
A great walk with some amazing views all the way up and at the top, would advise checking weather before you climb and make sure you prepare for it. Allow plenty of time to complete it and take your own food and drink.
long walk but the views where stunning. We where lucky with the clouds i recon. 4ft of snow at the summit and wow was it a hard last climb to the summit. Once we reached it all i can say is wow.
