About The Dogs, Edinburgh

The Dogs were a 1990s hip-hop group consisting of Disco Rick, Keith Bell, Labrant Dennis, and Fergus "Cracked Up" Smith, best known for "Crack Rock," their hit single with the chant "Yo' Mama's on Crack Rock!" The group released three studio albums The Dogs in 1990, Beware of The Dogs in 1991 and K-9 Bass in 1992. The group officially disbanded in 1996 when Labrant Dennis was arrested for the murder of his ex-girlfriend, Timwanika Lumpkins, and her lover Marlin Barnes, a linebacker for the University of Miami football team. Dennis was convicted of the double-murders in 1998, and sentenced to death in 1999. Dennis remains on death row.

  • Exquisitely prepared dishes of delectable flavours! Not your ordinary menu. Trust the chef and go outside of your comfort zone. Swoon worthy. The owner attended us with our wine selection and helped to make just the right choice given the palate of our table. Such a fine experience and definitely a highlight of our visit to Edinburgh.

  • A sublime restaurant experience. Delicious food and very attentive service. Best food I had in Edinburgh

  • Probably some of the best food in Edinburgh. Amazing interior. Terrible management!! They do not accept orders of additional food throughout the meal, it's insane! My friends dish was very small (tapas sized) and she wanted another dish. They refused to serve her, bluntly telling her she should have read the menu and ordered everything at the start. Very rude. But they place is a gem, just order all your food at the start!!

  • Stylish but cosy place with traditional British & Scottish dishes (like fish&chips, haggis, sticky toffee pudding) at reasonable prices. Staff could be a bit friendlier but we enjoyed our quick dinner nevertheless. Advisable to reserve at the weekend.

  • Had dinner with friends at Dogs last night. It was a busy night and the atmosphere was friendly, with the dining room having an eclectic mix of design but bizarrely has a romantic feel. The food was delicious, I can't eat wheat or gluten and David (owner) adapted my choice from the main menu to suit. There's a great choice of wines - all great quality too. Price - exactly what you'd expect to pay for good choice of honest food, great wine options in the city centre with interesting surroundings. Thanks David and the team who looked after us, we'll definitely be back to see you again.
