The Liquid Room, Edinburgh Reviews - Write a Review

  • Went to see a favourite artist, Newton Faulkner tonight. I have seen him play many times, and as always, he was spectacular. However, this is the second time I have seen him in the Liquid Room and both times have been the worst gig experiences of my life. Incredibly overcrowded, noisy bar staff with no consideration for the act, terrible acoustic and an absolutely abysmal, rude and unruly crowd. Clearly this venue caters more to obnoxious customers than talented acts. Unfortunately for Newton, and for any other small-medium artists who play there, the people who love their music will be let down and put off from coming to see them again. I realise that the venue cannot control the attitudes of their customers, however if they set a tone of respect through their staff and layout, maybe the acts they get to play would have a chance of being heard.

  • Cool place for gigs. Found it very easy to see the stage from just about anywhere.

  • Never been before last night. At £4.50 a spirit based drink and £3 a shot it's not enjoyable. Add in that the bar staff simply aren't very good at their jobs - lots of bad attitude and use of obscene language and gestures - I work in a pub as well we don't use profanities whilst at work a tiny bit of professionalism goes a long way. Entered a planned event with VIP tickets and were told to exchange our tickets at the booth for a wrist band. Staff there couldn't even manage that. Asked her 3 times if she was sure we didn't need a wristband she was adamant "no just go" (snappy and miserable to boot) all the way downstairs to VIP bit to have bouncers moan at us and send us back up for wristbands. When we went back up she tutted and sighed. Some people just dont deserve jobs they are so thoroughly unpleasant. All in I highly suspect liquid room staff couldn't organise a pish up in a brewery and I certainly will never be back.

  • Peeking toms! I am outraged that one of the security crew was filming me in the toilet. The phone was held up over the cubical recording as he thought I was up to no good. I will be contacting the police as invading my privacy while in the toilet is unacceptable regardless of what 'might' be going on in there.

  • Absolutely disgusting venue. Drinks served in dirty plastic cups.. toilets you could pick up any disease. I explained this to staff, then was brutally removed from the premises, by thugs of door staff. No manners what so ever.
