A structure that is reminiscence of Mongal invasion in the 13th century, the castle that stands today is a modern reconstruction. Although, the foundations of the 12th century St. John’s Cathedral are still visible on the eastern side of the complex.
The Istavn Dobo Museum housed in former Bishop’s Palace which dates back to late 15th century explains the history of this magnificent castle. There are many models and drawings worth observing. The Eger Art Gallery displays works of Canaletto and Ceruti. Walk down the Istvan Dobo Museum, the iconic statue of Dobo stands proudly. The terrace of renovated Dobo Bastion constructed in sixteen century collapsed in 1976 but was rebuilt and offers panoramic views of Eger.

I've visited few weeks ago and I was surprised! They've improved the castle and has got more to see. Especially those interactive exhibitions. I loved it and I would recommend to everyone how visit to Eger. You must see!
Caste of Eger is a big castle with lots to see and read. Most of the information also has English. You can get a standard entry ticket or buy extras to see more of the castle. The castle has a dungeon and museum to also see, Castle of Eger has good public toilets, restaurants and refreshments on site. Eger is a town really worth seeing if your spending a few days in Hungary or Budapest.
The castle of Eger is the biggest attraction in Eger and is worth to visit. Although The castle is not in the best of shape but renovation works are ongoing all the time I believe. Unlike other places in Hungary the Eger castle surprisingly had translation of most things in English. The entrance However is a little on the higher side which should be reduced probably. The city views are great and the staff helpful.
Great place to visit. A must see if you are in Eger. This castle is famous due to a heroic victory of 2000 Hungarian soldiers who defended the castle attacked by tens of thousands of Turks. Except of well remained castle you can see exhibitions about the famous victory and the castle itself offers excellent spot for sightseeing of the city of Eger which lies down below the castle.
This was an amazing adventure for us and our young boys. It is about of walking for little ones but it was worth it. Signage lacks a little but we managed to find our ways around. Admittedly from where we parked it took us quite a while to find an entrance. Google to the rescue! It offers great views, lots of history and some good eats.
