Daf Museum - Review

DAF Trucks is one of the two revolutionary industries in Eindhoven. The DAF Museum charts the history of this company though the technological advancement of its products, mainly commercial trucks. The collection of trucks here dates back to 1928. On the ground floor of the museum, there is a recreation of a village square lined with shops dating from the period in which DAF Trucks took off. You will also see a replica of the Van Doornes office here and see how the big company was managed in its initial days. There are more than 50 truck models in the museum that chart the evolution of design and technology. On the first floor of the museum is the Historical Room. Divided into ten screening areas, you can see take a visual tour of the history of the company here. Each screen deals with ten years of the company’s achievements. Likewise, the De Valk brewery next door was used as one of the workshops for truck manufacturing. Here you can see some of the equipment and processes required for manufacturing trucks in that era.

DAF Museum, Eindhoven Reviews

  • Lovely little Car Museum showing all models of the Dutch carmaker from saloons to modern trucks - you can even sit in the latest truck (what a different view through the windscreen - quite scary) if you want. There are many members of staff around, all very friendly and willing to explain the different models. Great views of the ground floor exhibition area from the gallery.

  • Nicely done and good overview. My first ever car was a DAF 46 super deluxe and a bit of nostalgia was there for me. It would be great if a local computer savvy person could help the museum to get their computers into better shape. Unfortunately I live to far away.

  • For an American who has never heard of DAF before two days ago, and who cannot speak or read Dutch, this has no right to be so fascinating. I spent far more time than I expected. Favorite display was the race cars clearly displaying their automatic transmission device.

  • Great collection of DAF vehicles. Besides the production models they also have some stunning prototypes.

  • A lot of Vintage trucks and cars to see with a cozy canteen :)
