About Little Adam's Peak, Ella

The Little Adam`s Peak, also known as ‘Punchi Sri Pada’ is situated at the height of 1141 meters and is one of the favourite spots for hiking among the travellers. The Little Adam’s peak got its name from the Adam’s peak, which is Sri Lanka’s holy mountain, due to the similarity of its shape. The path leading to the peak is marked and is easy to find. Once you set on the trail, you will pass through lush green tea plantations, paddy fields and as you move up, the landscape becomes more scenic. Once you reach the top, you will see a 360-degree panoramic view of the picturesque surroundings. The hike is fairly easy and can be undertaken by the entire family. You will meet a lot of follow hikers along the way. Do not forget to carry a bottle of water and a hat along with you.

Little Adam's Peak, Ella Reviews

  • Little Adam's Peak is one of the most popular destinations in Ella, and it's easy enough to find. Follow the main road in Ella downhill, and turn left at the Curd Shop. A little over 1km along the road will bring you to Ella Flower Garden Resort, turn right off the main road here to begin the climb. From here it is another 2km to the top. Most of the climb up Little Adam's Peak is fairly gentle and well paved, though some parts are a little rougher, but still very easy. As you approach the final ascent, the footpath gives way to steps, which continue more or less to the top.

  • From Ella junction walk up the road with the tourist police kiosk on your right. When you reach Flower Garden Resort leave the road by walking straight ahead on the path. After 20 minutes ignore the path on the right. Continue a little further and take the next right just before a tea factory. It is steps to the top but easy. The views are spectacular. On the way down get a cool juice at the Flower Garden Resort.

  • We chickened out of Ella Rock. This was the next best thing. It is a pretty easy walk up to Adam's peak. Take the right road out of town and follow the foreigners. It was pretty busy both on the way up and at the top, so didn't feel unspoilt. But the views were rewarding. As hopefully even my pretty average photography skills prove.

  • Considerably an easy hike comparing to Ella rock. There’s a well constructed path to climb though it does not go all the way up. Very popular among tourists and it gets crowded. Go early in the morning to avoid the warm sun and the crowd. A remarkable venture with breathtaking panoramic sceneries. You have to go through 98 aces which is another top notch accommodation provider in Ella.

  • Easy and nice hike up the hill. View up there is amazing. We walked up shortly after 7, a lot of ppl were already up there seeing the sunrise, which was probably a good idea. Still when they all headed down we were alone for a few min which was quite nice.
