Situated right in between the most scenic setting close to the town of Ella on the Bandarawela – Wellawaya Road are the Ravana Ella Waterfalls. Right in its proximity are the Ravana Caves. Legends believe that Ravana kept Sita, wife of Lord Rama, hidden in this cave for a while before taking her to his kingdom. There are two waterfalls in this region, Upper Ravana Falls and the Lower Ravana Falls. Upper Ravana falls are not very popular among the tourist due to poor accessibility. The Lower Ravana Falls, which fall over 9 meters, are of one of the most visited waterfalls in the country due to its easy accessibility and attractive surroundings. The best time to witness the falls in its full force would be during the monsoon or right after it.

A small hike and you're at the cave!! There's not much to do once you are there..the cave gets pitch dark and one shouldn't really try to go deep inside without proper gear. Beautiful scenic veiw while you climb up to the cave. One small food stall on the way up..ginger tea is a must try!
This is a nice and cool place but one has to walk a lot to reach this place and there are a lot of stairs on the way. If you aren't a big mythological fan then I would advise you to skip this place. It's not worth the climb really.
We need to proud about our history.you must see this giant cave.ravana is a amazing ruler and a creator.if you are going there buy some gotu pittu(ගොටු පිට්ටු) from the small tea shop up there.its located at 357 stairs up in the mountain.
Why did we go here? Ehm... It was not on the top of our list. Fortunately we had a scooter and we did not walk to this place. Keep this at the bottom of you list in Ella. Worth seeing but there are more interesting places in this area (Ella Rock, nine arches, little Adams Peak)
Stairs to a rock cave related to historical story of King Ravana's era, good for small groups.
