La Casa De Dona Lupe - Review

A beautiful escape to the country, the winery not only lets one see the best of nature but actually taste it. Really! Come here to taste the vast range of wines and fresh produce, grew and harvested directly from the homeland vineyards. Along with that, the place also serves its own excellency includes jams, jelly and salts. If you ask me, I would say that visiting this place is like visiting a neighbourhood with its quaint setting and a bunch of people hustling around. You will never get bored here! To make it even better, the price range of nearly everything, even the drinks are pretty cheap and you will not find yourself reminiscing over it price afterward.

  • The best winery you will ever visit hands down. It's an organic, family owned winery in the heart of the Valle de Guadalupe. Stop by and try out their amazingly delicious and sweet Honey wine that can accompany their homemade pizzas and breads, as well as their full bodied Nebbiolo. Stop into the gift shop and buy jams, spices, cheeses and other natural goodies. There's a wonderful area to taste wines, relax, listen to local artists and buy from vendors all while enjoying the shade and scenery. You can feel wonderful about supporting this winery as you can feel the love and knowledge Dona Lupe and her family pour into each and every drop of wine. I've been coming here since she started wine tastings in her living room and it has been so heart warming to see how much it's grown. If you're off the cruise ship and want to do something in Ensenada then you will not regret coming out to Dona Lupe's!!!

  • I could say this is the most familiar winery in the Valley, the staff very nice and friendly, I had the chance to meet the founder "Doña Lupe" who approached me to ask how was my visit and showed me the place all around, she's always on site and really worries about the customers. I bought two wines: Tempranillo and Corazon de Rubi, the first one is soft and little bit sweet and Corazon de Rubi is strong and sweet both are very unique type of wines.

  • As far as I'm concerned, the wine is undrinkable but I still recommend you come here. What they lack in wine making skills they make up for with the most amazing jams, breads and cheese mixes. I've been here three times now and have been happy to see how the place has expanded. There's now a lovely seating area and terrace, overlooking the vineyard. If you do chose to brave the wine, the pours are generous. There's also a little kitchen now but I didn't try the hot food.

  • I have been there about 4 or 5 times and each visit gets worse. It was great when it was just the small house and some outside seating but it is going down hill. I went in August 2017, the food was a mess, there were flies everywhere, but the pizza was good. I went again in March 2018, there were still flies (and no sign of fly traps or zappers), the food wasn't good and even the pizza was bland. The plates, pitchers, glasses, and serving utinsels were all the cheapest things you would find at a dollar store. The service was bad and the drink options were a joke. Doña Lupe is off my tour stop list, there are too many wonderful places in the VDG to visit to blow an afternoon here swatting flies. Unless you are really into jam don't waste your time and money.
