Tucked in a verdant city square overlooking the al-Sawwaf Mosque and the Erbil Citadel, the Shanadar Park is equipped with a number of kids’ play areas around the water feature. The highlight of the park is the Shanadar Cave that lies in the center surrounded by the stream. As you climb on top of the cave, you will be offered a sweeping view of the city. Those standing beneath will marvel at the cascades of water trickling down from the top of the cave and meeting in the stream. The lake and the art gallery showing exquisite artworks of the local artists are other attractions of the Shanadar Park. Don’t forget to experience the cable car ride over the park.
