Completed in 1933, it is one of the six largest reservoirs of Ruhr, lies on the southern part of Essen. It is also said to be the largest lake of Essen. This artificial water body as now turned into a paradise for recreational activities and water sports. The well developed circular path around the lake offers a great space for bikers, skaters and pedestrians to take a stroll along the lake. On the other hand, the lake itself offers water activities like canoeing and kayaking. Apart from that, the lake has also turned into a house for nearly 20 sailing clubs where tourists can rent a boat to enjoy casual boating around the lake.
The highlight of the lake is the famous Seaside beach calm where people can relax under the shades of palm trees or can walk on the sandy beach.
Restaurants are also there where you can quickly grab a bite.
