Located just a few miles away from Estes Park, Kruger Rock is yet another hiking trail near the city. A two mile trek leads you to the elevation of about 900 feet and also offers some mesmerising view. This one is called a dry hike as there is no availability of water along. Hence, it is advisable to carry an ample quantity of water if you’re looking forward to trek here. Also needed is a camera so that you can capture some stunning moments in your lens. A hidden gem indeed, if the Rocky Mountain National Park is too crowded and you want to visit a place which is calm and quaint, head straightaway to Kruger Park.

Kruger Rock Reviews & Ratings

  • Wonderful view at the top. Wasn't too crowded and there's a little pavilion at the start which was great for us since it rained Note that you'll need to go through some dirt roads to get here and there's a daily fee of 9 dollars per day

  • This is one of our favorite hikes in the area. Be prepared to pay a fee for entering the campgrounds.

  • An "easy" peak (not for me, a 200lb, 5'4", man with medical issues) but a great view at the top

  • Beautiful hike, not very crowded. Pretty consistent climbing grade. About 2 miles each way and 1000 ft of vertical gain.

  • A scenic 360-degree view of the area including Estes Park. The view at the top of the rock is a bit of a scramble to access, but not too difficult for most. The trail leading up to the rock can get your heart rate elevated at a 1100 ft climb.

  • Is this something someone with bad knees could do, or is it quite a hike?

    Answer Report Abuse
    • The Kruger Rock Trail is a 4-mile out and back trail with an elevation gain of over 970 feet. The level is mildly difficult but recommended for beginners. The trail is steep at places and there is a short rock scramble towards the top.
