Best Time To Visit Fairbanks

This is Alaska. Obviously the best time to visit is during the summer! There are only two reasons to visit Alaska during the winter – to ski, or to catch the Aurora Borealis. Fairbanks climate is subartic, with a touch of humid continental, but still USA’s coldest city. Winters are long and summers are short.

  • Winter: November – Late March: January is the coldest month; at it’s warmest, temperatures are between -27 to -19 degrees Centigrade. November and December see heavy snowfall.
  • Spring: Late March – Early May: Spring temperatures rise just like Autumn temperatures fall – from -11 to 14 degrees Centigrade by the time May begins.
  • Summer: Early May – Mid September: July temperatures may reach 22 degrees Centigrade, though the nights are still a cool 11 degrees Centigrade. June and July are the rainiest months.
  • Autumn: Mid September – October: Max temperatures drop from 14 to -11 degrees Centigrade; by November, night temperatures are around -19.
