Bike Zone Reviews & Ratings
Bike Zone has saved me twice: put air in my tires and fixed my brake. They are so friendly and trustworthy. We locals are lucky to have them at the start of the bike trail. Thanks guys!
The shop is very well stocked. They have just about everything. Staff is knowledgeable and friendly.
I guess when you are the only bike shop at the start of the bike path you don't need to have friendly services. The old man who is also the owner is very grumpy. If you don't need to ask any questions, you are fine. Pay and go. No service needed. If you need to ask about a bike for your kids, then you'll be out of luck. The young assistant is very friendly and very helpful when the grumpy old man don't order him to ignore customers and do what he's told. I don't really get it. Most times, the owner is friendly and they had to make sure employees are friendly to customers. This grumpy owner needs some lessons from the assistant. In addition to renting a bike for my wife which I was asked to pay first I wanted to check if there's a bike that would fit better for my young son rather than the smaller one that I have brought. He gave the impression that I'm inconveniencing him. He even told me, "get everything together so we can get this done". Hello!? What do you think I'm doing. I'm on vacation! Do you think I want to spend time talking to you and not on the bike path!!!! Throughout our interaction, he was very terse, unfriendly and blunt. Not very typical of a bike shop owner. I always heard bike shops were very helpful when you needed a quick fix. When I was about to get on my way, I realized my kick stand was loose and dangling. I just needed a 30 second tighten on the spot with a hex L-wrench. I would've done it myself but he said, "we don't lend out tools". This policy I can understand. When the assistance was about to stop and give me a quick fix, he hollered him to not help but finish repairing a flat. Ok, fine. You don't want him to be interrupted. However, when a customer returned a bicycle he had no problem for the assistant to stop and checked them out for 5 minutes. What's this! Maybe he thought I wasn't planning to pay for the repair. I would pay for the quick 30 second repair. I'm a paying customer already. I paid for a bike rental. I finally tightened it enough with my own pliers and left. Not the assistant's fault but he was still repairing the flat after 15 minutes. I like small mom and pop bike shops. I hope he reads my review and improve.
AJ and his assistant were so great. Stayed after closing to fix my brakes, attach my cell phone holder and a VERY involved bike rack mount. So grateful. Last year the owner was very gracious as well. So happy they are always there when I need them :)
This bike shop is conveniently located at the top of Shining Sea Bikeway, a roughly 11 mile scenic bike path. We got our bikes for $20 each and that included helmets and locks. The service was very no frills but extremely friendly and thorough. If you're renting, you have to park in the lot behind the shop and walk over. It's a two minute walk. The bike path is awesome and highly recommended for families.
