The Medici’s vanity is immediately apparent in this church – they don’t like mixing with commoners, but do like to hear mass, which is why you’ll see the Corridoio Vasariano pass across the façade. Still, that’s not the reason this church is famous. Rather, it’s the fact that it’s an old church. After San Lorenzo, this is easily the oldest church in the city, and was built in the 2nd century BC. The only Romanesque influence left though, is the 14th century Chapter House. Highlights are:

• The Meeting of St. Anne and St. Joachim by Michele Tosini, the Assumption of the Virgin with Saints attributed to Baldassare Franceschini.
