Hailed as Florence’s most iconic figure, and the Renaissance’s most prominent inspiration, da Vinci was, among other things, an inventor. Many of the things he’s invented were just to chase ideas, and many of those have been lost to history. But here, in the four galleries within Galleria Michelangelo, are a collection 50 of Leonardo’s inventions. Most of the models do what they’re supposed to do. And not only were they designed by him, these very specimens were build by him. There are about 200 other items besides, inventions from the various centuries, made from the very material available in those times. There’s also a lovely video of Leonardo’s life that you should not miss on any account. All in all, a very satisfying insight into one of the world’s most revered men.
