The Oltrarno - Review
The Oltrarnois an architectural landmark of Florence. The name means “Beyond Arno”, referring to the locales position to the south of Arno River. It holds components of the important heritage aspects of Florence and numerous eminent destinations, for example the church Santo Spirito di Firenze, the Palazzo Pitti, Belvedere, and most importantly Piazzale Michelangelo. Though a historic place, the Oltrarno has undergone radical changes thanks to the arrival of a richer resident class and the influx of tourists. Some developments, like parks, have been approved; other, like underground parking spaces, were opposed by residents who saw it as a ruse to drive them out.
