We know for whom the palace was built (Giovanni Uguccioni) but not who built it. Raphael, Michelangelo, Andrea Palladio, Bartolomeo Ammannati and Raffaello da Montelupo have all been cited on time or the other as it’s architect. It’s unique feature (for Florence at least) are the columns on its facade; Ionic columns on the first floor, and Corinthian on the second. A bust of Francesco I de' Medici looks down over the entrance of the palace. Today, the family that owns the palace has turned it into an apartment building of sorts, and preserved the building’s original historical feel. Go ahead and spend a night or two there. After the booking, I received TEN emails and FOUR WhatsApp messages before the check in. paying the price for a high end hotel but no check in counter. no one to receive you or help you after a long day of travelling. they expect you to make an appointment for check-in?! not to mention we had to wait outside standing in the scorching sun because there is no lobby. Our room was NOTHING like what we had booked online. the description said there was ample living room space (there was no living room space, it was just big as a hotel room). a couch was also mentioned, there was none. in fact, there would not have been space for it even it they wanted to put it.The third bed was literally a camping bed. the toilet was as big as a closet. they threatened to call the police because we had not given them our documents, when in reality they were so nervous about the situation they had forgotten to ask them. Me and friends are from Canada and have travelled the world (literally) and never encountered such rude people and bad customer service.
