Joe T. Sheehy experimented with peanut farming in Wilson city in 1916 and introduced it as a viable crop for farming. He was eventually named as the “peanut king” and this giant peanut memorial statue was made as a tribute to his contribution. Nestled inside Wilson county courthouse lawn, this peanut statue and its history has been intriguing tourists since ages. The statue with its interesting history is surely Instagram worthy.
Memorial Peanut Statue Reviews & Ratings
Grabbed a picture of my grandson that just had to kiss this peanut!!! We really loved the town square, the beautiful Courthouse, and all of the little businesses around the square! Looks like a great place to live!
Decent food at a decent price
Love this cool little town and all of the historic markets there. Definitely worth a visit if you like small towns. Unfortunately the jailhouse Muesem was under repair when we went.
Great fun at the festival!
This memorial imortalizes the great late Mr. Peanut, may he rest in pieces.
