Second Beach, Forks Reviews
After visiting and hike in Rialto beach to the north I thought there couldn’t be a more beautiful stretch of coastline in Washington. I was wrong, second beach is absolutely beautiful. The coastline is incredibly rugged and the hike down through the forest to the beach is so peaceful. Make sure you visit during low tide so that you can explore the tidepools. At the end of the beach is a cave and the hike there is definitely worth it.
Great beach to visit its my favorite out of First, Second, and Third beaches. It's nice for camping, but lately it's been very crowded in the summer, so I'd suggest getting there early. The hike in is a trail that has stairs at the end and there are beach logs at the trailhead on the beach. Don't bring strollers or other wheeled devices, they would not do well on this trail.
Spent the whole day here. Well worth it and would visit again. Make sure to be there for low tide on the east side of the beach!
This was our best experience while at Olympic National Park. We went early morning to experience one of the lowest tides of the year in Mid June which occurred around 7:45am. We arrived at the parking area around 7am and had plenty of parking available. There is an overflow parking area available also that is just another 100 ft down the road from the trailhead...so get there reasonable early and you should have no problem with parking. The trail is an easy roughly 1 mile walk through the forest down the beach. You then have to climb over a pile of driftwood to access the beach. This isn't exceptionally difficult but posed a bit of a challenge for us 50+ year olds...but we made it over and all the effort was well worth it. The low tide created numerous tidepools and exposed many of the sea stacks out in the ocean. This allowed us to walk right up to the sea stacks and see lots of ocean life including sea aninomes and dozens of starfish in all colors....purple, orange, red, etc. That was truly amazing as I had never seen starfish in the wild before. This is a beautiful unique beach to visit just go early and go at low tide! Also bring some water shoes or sandals and raingear as you will likely get a little wet at some point in your adventure.
Absolutely stunning beach worth visiting in different seasons and times of day to get the full experience. I do recommend sunset though if you can only go once. Don’t forget to bring some firewood to enjoy a beach fire in this beautiful location. We visited in late spring when the crowds were smaller and thus had a relaxing peaceful time having pretty much the beach to ourselves.
