Set up in 1991 for the protection of mangrove swamps from the encroaching by the highways and industrial expansion, this is one of the most popular recreational parks of Fortaleza. Apart from the recreational activities, the park also conducts programs to promote environmental awareness in its visitors. It is named after the river that forms the mangrove biome- the Coco River and is known as the Jungle in the city!
The Ecological park of Coco contains an amphitheatre, walking path, sports field, and playgrounds where shows and sports competitions are conducted.
A boat tour along the Rio Coco enables the visitors to explore the park's wildlife and unique flora. Activities like walking, cycling, zip lining, rock-climbing, pivoting bridge, hiking and boating are offered in the park, making it ideal for a day-out or a picnic!
