The National Arboretum of Westonbirt with around eighteen thousand plant specimens from around the world is like a paradise on earth. Starting its journey in the mid 19th century, the arboretum is supposedly the most important and popular arboretum in the United Kingdom. There are around 17 miles of marked avenues laden with a variety of elusive trees and shrubs. The Old Arboretum is beautifully designed with stately avenues and exotic plants, some of which date back to 1850s. You will have a unique experience at the Silk Wood featuring exotic plants and traditional working woodlands, some from 13th century. There are also 79 marked “champion trees” that you will love to find while exploring. The advent of autumn gives unique vibrance to the plantations, while during the fall season, the ground is carpeted by colourful leaves.
