This well-maintained shooting range is widely used by public. It gets pretty crowded on weekends. Keep that in mind while booking your slot. You can practice different weapons here; from shotgun, handgun, rifle to archery. There are ranges from 10 yards to almost 200 yards. Staff members are constantly monitoring people and making sure everybody is being safe. Overall, a clean shooting range to spend some time.

  • What's not to like! It's a free gun range operated by the DNR. There is a range officer that patrols in a pickup truck in the parking lot to ensure safety. There is a 25, 50, 100, and a 200 yard range. The people that shoot here are always friendly and they follow range rules. Remember to bring a staple gun and/or clothes pins to secure your targets. The shooting bench is weathered wood. A shooting mat helps if you have one. I just wish it was closer to my home.

  • Took my boys shooting for their 1st time. I like Indiana public ranges, price is right (FREE) and it's supervised by conservation agent. Bring your own targets and holders. Clean up afterwards and have a good time! Has pistol ranges and rifle ranges as well. No auto fire, but rapid semi is ok. Nice little drive from Chicago, but it's worth it. Spend less on gas than you would going to expensive IL ranges.

  • Great place to shoot. Many improvements and updates since I was here as a kid with my dad. Even has an outhouse if the need arises. Great job

  • Great place for locals to shoot for FREE with the benefit of safety officers on duty. Officers are super nice. If you ask and the place isn't packed, they will help you with a new gun you just got or give input if your shooting is off. A note to my fellow shooters about courteousy. When it's busy, please don't hog a spot all day. It's not a place to camp out ya know? Appreciate it.

  • No open carry. No rapid fire. The RO literally spends his entire time in the truck driving around making sure he enforces this instead of anything actually safety related like people pointing weapons anywhere but down range. They now have changed rules again so that you can only shot a handgun at a reasonable distance of 25 yards! It’s a huge range and if you play your cards right you can have a good time when the RO is at the other end of the range.
