The Hauptwache building is located right in the city center and is another impressive historical site that you can’t miss. There is an entire square, which is a major transportation hub in central Frankfurt and the nearby areas that the building is a backdrop for. Nevertheless, the building will keep your eyestrained on it through its captivating Baroque architectural design, which features only two floors with a huge rooftop. This historic building is definitely a distinctive sight, because it is surrounded by numerous contemporary buildings and amenities, and it is a place where you can enjoy a cup of warm coffee or tea.The reason for this is that it has been turned into a sort of heritage cafe now.

“An Der Hauptwache”, which is the main square in front of the Hauptwache building is a very popular shopping destination as well. It marks the beginning of “Zeil” which is the most important shopping area in Frankfurt.

  • Cute little building in the centre of an open space. They have a restaurant but it used to have some military significance before that.

  • Great central location with trains every 15 minutes to/from the airport. RMV counter opens at 8 AM daily, they helped me buy eTicket for S-Bahn and U-Bahn and activate for one week (27 EU). Many shops but plaza above station has many more options in nicer setting.

  • Its best place to meet up and plan for city exploration. Christmas market was at its best offering amazing food.

  • Convenient place galeria have great food and ac and a street full of vendors within walking distance to Rome square!

  • Good connections for exploring the city...
