  • Our kayak trip the other day with Jo and will was fabulous the boys were lovely and so passionate about the area and the culture and clearly were keen to share their knowledge. They clearly knew more than what the company excepted of them! The tour was great and you get to paddle across the lake and into a creek up to the kiwi sanctuary which was lovely and you can really appreciate the work to preserve the natural new Zealand environment would 10 out of 10 recommend

  • Honestly a truly awesome experience! I did the kayak and hike 4-hour trip, and it rained almost the entire time- it did not even slightly take away from the day. It was fantastic. Dale and Jo were so friendly and knowledgable about the area and they made sure everyone knew what was going on all the time. It was so good. They also took photos the whole way around so that you didn’t have to worry about dropping your own camera. IT WAS BRILLIANT. I highly recommend this trip to anyone passing through the Franz Josef area.

  • A great and fun way to enjoy the lake at Franz Josef. We hired the SUPs for an hour without a guide (as this was the cheapest option) and had a blast paddling around and mucking about on the water. My brother (who had never SUPed before) was even able to do a handstand one one!

  • Great tour of the local lake and insights into the plight of growing the Rowi Kiwi population. The guide (Johnny) was brilliantly entertaining sharing stories and some jokes. Getting free high quality pics at the end of the tour was an added bonus. Highly recommended

  • With my heli-hike getting cancelled, I walked over to the Glacier Country Kayaks and signed up for the afternoon paddling tour (Kayak Classic). This is a 3-hour tour during which you get to see stunning panoramic views of the Southern Alps. We had an absolutely gorgeous weather in the afternoon, peaceful lake with mirror reflection! Our guides were fun loving, passionate, very informative and one had even helped out in raising kiwis! As we kayaked for an hour we reached the middle of the lake where we started to get some waves! This was really exciting. I guess the waves were caused because the land just below the lake? We then entered a narrow creek which was the kiwi sanctuary. After a bit of information about this place, we turned back. The guides clicked loads of pictures of us. (Sit in front if you want to be in the group pic. lol) I highly recommend these folks not only because of their experienced guides, but also because they are passionate about the environment, and their sustainable tours are conservation orientated. A portion of the collections goes towards conservation of the national park.
