Glacier Country Kayaks, Franz Josef Glacier Reviews
With my heli-hike getting cancelled, I walked over to the Glacier Country Kayaks and signed up for the afternoon paddling tour (Kayak Classic). This is a 3-hour tour during which you get to see stunning panoramic views of the Southern Alps. We had an absolutely gorgeous weather in the afternoon, peaceful lake with mirror reflection! Our guides were fun loving, passionate, very informative and one had even helped out in raising kiwis! As we kayaked for an hour we reached the middle of the lake where we started to get some waves! This was really exciting. I guess the waves were caused because the land just below the lake? We then entered a narrow creek which was the kiwi sanctuary. After a bit of information about this place, we turned back. The guides clicked loads of pictures of us. (Sit in front if you want to be in the group pic. lol) I highly recommend these folks not only because of their experienced guides, but also because they are passionate about the environment, and their sustainable tours are conservation orientated. A portion of the collections goes towards conservation of the national park.
Great tour of the local lake and insights into the plight of growing the Rowi Kiwi population. The guide (Johnny) was brilliantly entertaining sharing stories and some jokes. Getting free high quality pics at the end of the tour was an added bonus. Highly recommended
Great experience! Special thanks to Maddie for amazing customer service and Reece was a great guide so informative and fun. Not only we had a beautiful tour it was a great experience altogether. Will recommend every bit of it!
My partner & I went on a boat and trail tour with Dale today . It was wonderful. Not only because of the sensational views but because Dale knows his stuff and was very warm and personable. We would highly recommend this tour / company.
Our guide, Mike, was very friendly and knowledgeable. Funny guy, who educated us along the way of the formations of the glaciers and the lake. Nice to see a fellow Canadian out here in NZ!
