Fraser Island has a maritime subtropical climate with warm and humid weather often cooled by sea breezes. The island is prone to cyclones during summers and early autumns when there is a high amount of rainfall.
Summer (December – February): Summers are hot and wet with an average high of 29°C. There can be heavy downpour during the season.
Winter (June – August): Winters are often dry with an average temperature around 22°C. This time is great for fishing and Whale watching.
Spring (September – November): Springs are usually dry and the weather is pleasant round the season. It is also the best time for bird watching.
Autumn (March – May): Early autumn can be wet but the weather gets cooled down eventually.
Generally, Fraser Island can be on your itinerary planners all year round. But the best time to visit the island is during the months of August to December.
