Kailis Fish Market Cafe, Fremantle Reviews
We were confronted with a number of seafood places on our recent visit to Fremantle. The staff at the Maritime Museum recommended this place and they were so correct! I was dubious at first as it seemed a little chaotic. Noisy and a little overwhelming. But after settling into a nice booth, we ordered and i had some seriously nice snapper and chips and salad and my partner had a chowder. The wine was freshly opened and poured and overall, a very satisfying and comfortable experience.
The fish was freshly fried but soggy. The chips were crispy but dry and slightly hard inside. The chowder had a good amount of fish in it but not much taste. All in all, a disappointing and overpriced meal. Its a rainy day and the place wasn't crowded. There's really no excuse for such poor food. The seafood was fresh but that's about the only thing going for it. Fresh seafood, poorly cooked. I don't think I'll be back anytime soon.
Fruits, coffees are readily available here. There is a souvenir shop that custom make pen case craving. No hard sell tactics from the lady, ordered 2 piece free 1. Quite exquisite and beautiful Parker pens with free refill. Good place to buy moisturizers if you are travelling there and not used to the dry weather
Famous place for seafood. The fish and chips were average, definitely nothing to shout about. My local friends told me that this place had become more of a tourist trap. One thing I couldn't stand was the seagulls outside waiting to have done of people's leftovers. There were clearly signs to warn people against leaving their food unattended. If not for the birds, the alfresco dining experience would have been perfect with the cold breeze and accompanying sights and scenery.
Very tasty seafood! Fair price. Good service. Clean toilet. Wonderful view.Never leave your food on the outside table unattended as seagulls will eat your food without first asking your permission.(what do you expect...cant blame the seagulls..haha)
