Ohori Park - Review
When a city is as urbanised as Fukuoka is, lush green spaces are a welcome and rare retreat. This makes the landscaped fields of Ohori Park the city's most precious attraction. Beautiful and welcoming in every season, the tranquil park is built around the lake-moat of the old Fukuoka Castle, the remnants of which are on the grounds.
There's a lot to do. Visit the Art Museum there. The Japanese Garden is on the south side. Rent a vessel from the boathouse and row out the to the middle of the lake, or to one of the three islands. The Gokoku shrine is very pretty, down the pathway from a massive toriii gate.
But after all these are covered, the most satisfying activity is to simply stroll. Elegant chinese bridges link the outer two kilometre long path to the islands. The park's appeal evolves with the passing months. In spring, the cherry blossoms attract a large crowd, as does the annual fireworks display in August, when the people turn up in traditional dresses.

Ohori Park, Fukuoka-shi Reviews
Beautiful large park divided into several areas- many locals exercise here or walk their pet dogs. There is a large lake of water n the park is lush with trees n plants. Ample toilets here n also a cafe which serves coffee tea n snacks/food. Many locals after walking relax here with a cup of coffee/tea n read some novels or the newspapers. It is a good park to relax and wind down or one to refresh u first thing in the morning. There is a Wisteria grove but one can only enjoy that in spring season when they flower.
Absolutely beautiful park which is modeled after the West Lake of China. Amazing atmosphere with multiple food stands. The Art Museum is also nearby however, it is currently under construction. I would strongly recommend this park if you are looking for a place to exercise or to just spend some time in a serene environment. There is also a garden which is part of the Park which is beautiful and only costs 200 JPY to enter.
Great, beautiful park with a subway stop nearby, restaurants on and around the lake, multiple playgrounds, and a trail running across and around the park. Stunning scenery lines the entire park, which adds to the peacefulness of the islands in the center of lake. Tons of people jog and bike around the lake, which has meter markings on it keep you distance. Overall, a great place for all ages and all sizes of groups.
Easy for me to give 5 stars, as I was there during the week during the early afternoon, with not that many people around. So it was a nice and quiet place. Very easy to see, that this park can be expected to be full of people regularly. I enjoyed the japanese garden there. Not that big, very beautiful and low entrance fee.
Excellent day out and as we visited on Sunday the park was full of families having fun. The huge Ohori Park has a lake in the center with islands that are connected to one another by traditional bridges. The lake is full of koi carp, turtles, ducks and other birds such as storks. Visitors can also rent a rowing boat for a few hundred Yen.
