About Ohori Park, Fukuoka-shi
When a city is as urbanised as Fukuoka is, lush green spaces are a welcome and rare retreat. This makes the landscaped fields of Ohori Park the city's most precious attraction. Beautiful and welcoming in every season, the tranquil park is built around the lake-moat of the old Fukuoka Castle, the remnants of which are on the grounds.
There's a lot to do. Visit the Art Museum there. The Japanese Garden is on the south side. Rent a vessel from the boathouse and row out the to the middle of the lake, or to one of the three islands. The Gokoku shrine is very pretty, down the pathway from a massive toriii gate.
But after all these are covered, the most satisfying activity is to simply stroll. Elegant chinese bridges link the outer two kilometre long path to the islands. The park's appeal evolves with the passing months. In spring, the cherry blossoms attract a large crowd, as does the annual fireworks display in August, when the people turn up in traditional dresses.

Ohori Park, Fukuoka-shi Reviews
Much bigger than I thought. Great place for a family to visit. Nothing amazing but good to just relax and stroll around.
Beautiful park. Easy to walk around the whole park and the lake. Lots of birds to see, tortoises, and giant koi fishes in the lake. Easy to from the subway as the exits are clearly marked. Stone benches around the lake for a nice picnic. 2 locations of vending machines around the lake for a quick drink. Busy playground on a Sunday but looks like a lot of fun for the kids.
Wonderful sight ideal for a stroll, picnic or bike ride, alone or friends and family. Exceptionally beautiful during cherry blossom season. Definitely worth the stop!
Great park to wonder around with cafes close by and on the premises too. Beautiful structures/sculptures around the park. You can also feed the turtles in the ponds. This was my favourite part. Also have paddle things which you can hire.
A beautiful city park with a two kilometre cushioned running/walking path around the park which is great, the path is also around a lake which has a path across with a pretty pagoda style gazebo and a small wooded area, where you might see people practising Taichi chi or even the trumpet. There are many great photo spots and a lot of people walking and jogging, as well as many dogs (which must be leashed). There is a reasonably discreet Starbucks with WiFi (A plus or minus - your preference I know). There are close by museums and a venue which has occasional art and culture exhibitions. There are summer fireworks held here , the park is busy and hot, the quality fireworks make it worthwhile. There are some good cheap hotels nearby which make this an ideal base for sightseeing in Fukuoka.
