It's amazing how this place make us feel, really beautiful e peaceful. But be prepared to lots and lots of stairs. I even joke about it with my brother, if you can walk through out the whole place for a entire place, you are sure to live for 10 more years.
Inexpensive and easy to reach from Tokyo, by train. JR pass visitors must come here. With impressive views of Tokyo from across the bay, this mountain is easy to a ascend on food, or by the ropeway. Carvings, incredible rock features and a giant Buddha statue make this mountain a must visit. There were also some cats outside the upper ropeway station last year.
An excellent Temple Mountain area. Great views and off the typical beaten path. Didn’t seem like many foreign tourists new about it. Best way to get there is to take the ferry from Kurihama and walk to the mountain. There is a gondola to take you to the top with an excellent view.
This is a very neat spot to spend a Narita or Haneda layover. It takes about 2hrs to get here by train. The walk through the old quarry is amazing since you can still see the pick axe marks in the rocks all around.
Not an easy hike. Lots of stairs. Easy access with direct trains from Shinjuku Station or take a ferry.
