Pigeon Valley Reviews & Ratings
Large and beautiful valley with lots of greenery as well as some tourist shops at the entrance. Its name surely come from the pigeons idling on a steep wall at the entrance of the valley. A 4 km hiking trail leads through the valley, which provides great landscapes. Definitely worth a visit.
Absolutely georgeous Valley. However, the way is so poorly indicated that we lost ourselves the first day to end up going back to Uçhisar. We tried again the second day come up to the same dead end. We hopefully encountered a local guide leading a tourist group who explained us where we had to go. Apparently, he was not surprised that we got lost. Real pity that we got so frustrated by the very poorly signaled path because the hike is otherwise wonderful!
I had a visit to this valley in September 2019. Though the temperature was as high as 35 degrees, there was a pleasant breeze all throughout. The caves we could visit were great. The scenery added to the pleasant experience. A must visit and is just 10 mins walk from the Citadel of Uchisar, both places can be covered back to back.
Beautiful at sunrise and sunset. Multiple cafes and restaurants. Amazing ancient houses carved out of the rock facings. Easy walk down into the valley. Pity there is some rubbish around and it isn't better cared for by tourists or locals
Beautiful valley to walk through. Ensure that if walking the valley from Uchisar towards Goreme that you are in the Pigeon (one more to the west and closer to the road) and not the Canyon valley as the Cayon valley is impassable and pretty dangerous. Once we got into the correct valley it was a lovely easy walk.
