Galveston Island State Park Reviews & Ratings

  • Nice and clean grounds. The area has changed a lot since my younger days with the concrete picnic tables but I like it. We like to bring some tarps to extend the shade from the provided pergola. Gives us extra shaded space to lounge around the picnic table while grilling.

  • I live in Jamaica Beach which is right on the edge of Galveston state park and I love love love this. It is amazing our beach house has been here since the 1970s what does my grandmother's but now she is living me live here I recommend anybody come visit this area it is so amazing so relaxing it really takes the stress relief off that's for sure and it's always beautiful and sunny

  • I've been to a lot of TX state parks. I didn't camp here so can't comment on that. I came here to kayak fish. I launched my kayak on the bay side. Very peaceful and beautiful. Caught few trout and red fish. Got bigger ones when I got out of the bayou and more into the bay. Fun relaxing fish. I plan on coming back. Maybe when it's cooler out I'll camp over night

  • Beautiful views if you get the right spots. No shade at all so bring curtains for your awning and pop ups. The visitor signs/information could be improved and the combo lock on the entrance gate (10pm it gets locked) would not open with the #s given us but still a beautiful place.

  • This is pretty much a beach only. All state parks have a unique beauty, but this one is extremely difficult to sleep at because of the mesquitos. Thankfully the bathroom and showers were not as bad as some parks.
