Located around 5 kilometres from Gangtok town, the Do Drul Chorten Stupa was built in 1940’s by Trulshik Rinpoche, head of the Nyingma order of Tibetan Buddhism.

The stupa contains Dorjee Phurba, Kangyur relics (Holy Books) and other religious objects and has 108 Mani Lhakor or prayer wheels surrounding it. Prior to the stupa’s presence, it is believed that evil spirits inhabited the place and many people suffered and lost their lives here. Lama Trulshik Rinpoche liberated the place and after his death, another lama Dodhrubchen Rinpoche came here to preach fellow monks.

Today, the place is visited by anyone who wants to find peace and tranquility. Don’t miss out on turning the Prayer wheels clockwise when you visit, to complete the experience.
