Chorten Monastery - Review
Located around 5 kilometres from Gangtok town, the Do Drul Chorten Stupa was built in 1940’s by Trulshik Rinpoche, head of the Nyingma order of Tibetan Buddhism.
The stupa contains Dorjee Phurba, Kangyur relics (Holy Books) and other religious objects and has 108 Mani Lhakor or prayer wheels surrounding it. Prior to the stupa’s presence, it is believed that evil spirits inhabited the place and many people suffered and lost their lives here. Lama Trulshik Rinpoche liberated the place and after his death, another lama Dodhrubchen Rinpoche came here to preach fellow monks.
Today, the place is visited by anyone who wants to find peace and tranquility. Don’t miss out on turning the Prayer wheels clockwise when you visit, to complete the experience.

Chorten Monastery, Gangtok Reviews
Located at the top of the hill. Prayer wheels, burning diyas, etc are the characteristics features of this place. Parking facility available. Resting place for monks encircling the worship point.
Do Drul Chorten Stupa is walking distance from the Research Institute of Tibetology... But steep uphill pathway.. The stupa is surrounded by 108 prayer wheels all of which have mantras inscribed on them in Tibetan. If you rotate the prayer wheels, do it in clockwise direction.
It's a Buddhist monastery. Nice and peaceful place. It on the list for sight seeing if you visit Gangtok. Nice place to visit.
Very peaceful place. Please observe the all situations... Must visit
Beautiful monastery of Buddhists. Prayer wheels are there. A stupa also there.
