Ganesh Tok is a much loved tourist spot in Gangtok. Some say it is the best viewing sport for spectacular vistas of the city. Whether this is true or not, it is certainly a great place to visit while in Gangtok.

There is a small temple dedicated to the Hindu god Ganesh and the area atop a hill is also one of the most popular tourist attractions due to the amazing vistas it provides. You will also found a few small souvenir shops, kiosks and other tiny places along the way and at the top of the hill as well. The Kanchenjunga hill in all its glory can be seen from here and is not to be missed. The best time to witness it is in the morning.

A very interesting thing to do here is to dress up in the traditional clothes to take pictures. The area itself is stunning and all these little eccentricities make it and unforgettable experience.

  • Follow the general Hindu rituals while visiting the temple, like leaving your shoes outside the temple.

  • The rent of the traditional clothes is around 40 INR.
  • Entry is free.

  • Do check for Public Transport options when you reach. Most tourists prefer to hire a car which is a lot more convenient in this hilly region.

  • BeliPushpa Restaurant
  • Hotel Pomra

  • There's a temple and a nice view point. There are a few stalls around and a paved parking lot as well. This place is really nice with bright colours on the viewpoint tower. Whole of Gangtok is visible from here. We spent about 2 hours here including the time for a quick meal. Would definitely recommend it.

  • The day we visited, the weather was cloudy. Otherwise, it was apparent that one can enjoy a very nice and panoramic view of the Gangtok city and sunset from this point. However, there was too many people and the place was very crowded. There are small shops outside and a restaurant as well. When we visited a haunted house was there a few steps below. One can enjoy ghostly feeling inside. The entry fee was a bit high 100 rupee per person. Otherwise, Ganesh Tok is a nice place to watch the mountains.

  • Ganeshtok is a small Ganesh Temple. But the view from here is awesome. You can see the top view of Gangtok which will take away your breath. One can see the beautiful mountains from there. You will love the place for sure. You can see the T V Tower from there.

  • Spiritual place with great views from the top. Nice atmosphere

  • I loved this place because of amazing view of the city from here. You can see the whole Gangtok city from here. There you'll found yourself in the sky's.
